The customer identity, serial numbers, quotation references and site details are withheld from this public case note. The repair scope and acceptance outcome are retained as evidence of the PNSS service process.
Reported faults
The Q-SYS Core 110f had suffered an operating-system crash/boot failure and remained stuck during startup. A separate web-smart PoE network switch within the same repair scope had also failed with no power.
Repair scope
- Replaced the Core 110f internal mainboard together with RAM.
- Reassembled and reinstalled the repaired Core into the existing system.
- Replaced the failed network switch with a D-Link DGS-1210-10P PoE switch.
- Reinstated the applicable network, audio, control and PoE connections.
Configuration and system restoration
A processor repair is not complete when the replacement board merely powers on. PNSS also restored/reprogrammed the required Q-SYS configuration and reconnected the existing control, network and audio interfaces so the Core could return to its operational role.
User acceptance result
All stated QSC Core and D-Link switch functional test items passed. The repaired Core 110f and replacement D-Link DGS-1210-10P were accepted as operational within the defined service scope, with no outstanding follow-up remarks recorded in the UAT.
Engineering lesson
- Board-level replacement must be followed by configuration restoration.
- Audio, control and network interfaces have to be verified as one system.
- A failed network switch can coexist with a processor fault and should be tested independently.
- Documented UAT is the final proof that the repair has returned the intended functions.
