This case note is intentionally anonymised. It describes the engineering decisions PNSS was responsible for without publishing the customer identity, commercial terms or site drawings.

Project context

The venue required a very large presentation image in a multipurpose hall, but the architectural layout restricted where the projector could sit. The design also had to allow safe access for future servicing without compromising alignment during normal use.

The engineering problem

  • Match high-brightness laser projection to a large screen while working within a short projection distance.
  • Select the projector and lens as a matched optical system rather than treating the lens as an accessory.
  • Coordinate the screen position, projector centreline, structural support and cabling route.
  • Create a mounting method that provides a secure operating position and a practical service position.

PNSS design approach

The reference design uses an Epson EB-PU2216B large-venue laser projector with an ELPLX02S ultra-short-throw fixed lens. PNSS coordinated the optical geometry together with a custom telescopic swing-arm mounting concept incorporating pivot and normal/service locking positions.

The important point was not the product list by itself. The screen size, lens throw, projector orientation, bracket movement, structural load path and service clearance had to agree before procurement.

Why the custom mount mattered

Large projectors are difficult to service when the mounting structure is designed only for installation day. A serviceable bracket must move in a controlled manner, return to a repeatable operating position and remain mechanically secure. The support structure also has to avoid introducing vibration or unwanted movement into the optical path.
